THE MAN CAVE.

Before

This Alpharetta client wanted to surprise her husband with a place for him to set back and relax. She ask that we create a space where he could entertain, watch movies and listen to his vintage collection of record albums. The room had been used as a catch all for toys and unused furniture.

AFTER
We started out by assessing what we had to work with - A folding screen and a collection of wines and spirits. The client wanted some place to house everything so we purchased this wonderful mahogany beverage center and topped it with a studded mirror. We re-purposed the folding screen then added a potted palm and mocha and olive window treatments. This space now has a purpose and is the perfect place to entertain.

Our client requested that the room also be used for family night. So our "Man Cave" slowly transitioned into a MUSIC/MOVIE room that the entire family could enjoy. It's deep masculine furniture is softened by decorative pillows and their daughter's mini baby-grand piano. We were able to use an existing sofa and chair and added two leather ottomans for comfort. A leaning TV console was purchased to house the television and components. The companion shelving unit is a convenient place for decorative storage boxes and the homeowner's vintage record player.

The album wall is a great focal point when entering the room and houses over 100 record albums! This just goes to show that you can create art out of anything! This room's focal point was enhanced by the open furniture placement. A focal point can also be created by painting an accent wall a darker color.

Zen Design

Small Space. Big Impact. We created this fabulous little space off the living room of this Alpharetta home. It's a great place to write, read or store mail. If work is more your flavor, then this space also functions perfectly as a home office. Just add your laptop! Previously the space housed a sofa table and books and had no defined purpose. Because this is an open floor plan with the kitchen to the right, we decided to create a little privacy by adding this wonderful porthole folding screen. The look was then layered with a chocolate/silk shag rug, an espresso X-desk, a wide bottom upholstered chair and an Asian contemporary lamp. Finally, a few well placed accessories complete the space. Talk about a mini-makeover with high style! WOW!

Designer's Note: "I want this chair! I love the wide seat and floral print. Maybe the client won't notice if I borrow it...you think?"

20% off Mother's Day Gift Idea!

Looking for a unique way to show that special person that you are thinking of them - why not give them an INTERIOR REDESIGN Gift Certificate for a Mini Makeover in one room of their home! Who wouldn't love having someone come in and create a whole new look in just 1 day!

Take a look at the AFTER space (above) of this Home Office! WOW! The husband requested a Mini Makeover as a gift for his wife - who often worked from home and needed a space to do her work that was both functional and looked great, of course!

This is the space BEFORE the Mini Makeover!

This room was lacking purpose and was basically used as a storage area for toys and other miscellaneous odds and ends.

We found a new home for the toys, re-purposed the folding screen and albums in another room. The rest of the items were sold at a garage sale. Now the space is ready for the TRANSFORMATION!

Welcome to Everyday Design Solutions

Storage Solutions

Problem - "I have a town house in Alpharetta, Georgia with three floors and only two closets in the Master and a small walk-in closet in the Guest Room. I like to keep the guest room closet free of clutter since I have a constant flow of guests. I don't know what to do with my seasonal clothes. The Master Bedroom only has a his and her closet and the garage is full...Help!"
Storage Issues in Alpharetta

Design Solution - This is a problem in many townhouses. My solution...LOOK UP! There is a ledge in your Master Bedroom that is normally used for displaying decorative objects, but think about using it for additional storage. These white storage boxes house seasonal clothing, boots, shoes and hats. Larger items such as coats can be put into large plastic containers and stored in the garage. Put a dried Bay Leaf in each box to keep out the bugs. Storage boxes are from IKEA and cost about $125 for 12, some assembly required and takes about 1 hour. Things are looking up!
